The optimized size of the Embedded OS footprint on the media engine uses only the components you need. By selecting only the drivers, services, and application you need you can reduce development time, optimize operating system size, and lower hardware costs. Windows Embedded Standard 7 delivers the power, familiarity, and reliability of the Windows 7 operating system in a componentized form for developers to create advanced commercial and consumer devices running thousands of existing Windows applications and drivers.

Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT), the remote management component of Intel® vPro^TM technology, works through an out-of-band (OOB) communications link to networked embedded devices. It enables IT staff to diagnose problems remotely, repair software issues over the wire and identify failed hardware components, even when devices are powered off. Intel integrated graphics support multiple displays, rich media blending, multiple zones and large LCD displays.

The Digital Signage Kit (DSK-i5XPC) offers device manufacturers and software developers and open media player platform that is optimized for digital signage applications. This reference platform is comprised of commercially available components, including the Intel® Core^TM i5 processor running the Microsoft Windows 7 Embedded Standard Operating System (OS).
